Great Lakes Festival

We have a number of students in 9-12 grades who are planning to go to Maranatha Baptist Bible College for their Great Lakes Music Festival on Friday, January 29.  There will be classes for all students who are not planning to attend this festival.

PE and Band class will switch on Thursday and Friday to accommodate those gone to Great Lakes.  Don't forget your instruments on Thursday and PE uniforms for Friday!

Turn Around Day Fun
Wednesday, January 27, was our annual "Turn Around Day."  Students in grades 7-12 were given the chance to work with a teacher and become a teacher for the day.  It is great to see our young people working with younger students and preparing to teach.  A special lunch was served and enjoyed by all our "young" teachers.

IACS All-State Music Festival

altLast Thursday and Friday Dr. Kevin Suiter and Dr. Rick Townsend did a great job working with our young people.  Over 125 young people from various Christian schools gathered for the festival.

We especially appreciated those of you who helped with various aspects of this, and we appreciated the support of those who attended the concert on Friday evening.

International Day

altOn November 18, we celebrated International Day.  Students were encouraged to dress up in traditional costumes of their favorite foreign countries.  We had a wonderful international lunch for all of the students and had a special missionary emphasis during the day.  We hope that all of our students will see the many countries of this world as the potential places of God's service for them.  May God send many of our students into His vast harvest field.

Student Attends Legislative Conference in Washington

leadership_2_small

In July 2009 one of our seniors, Daniel Steinbach, participated in the American Association of Christian Schools 15th Annual Youth Legislative Training Conference in Washington DC.  Daniel received a full scholarship for the conference.

The week’s activities included a Congressional briefing in the U.S. Capitol in which five Representatives and one Senator addressed the students.  Later in the day students were addressed by Rep. Michelle Bachmann (MN-6th) before receiving a private tour of the U.S. Capitol by Rep. Randy Forbes (VA-4th).  Both Bachmann and Forbes are ardent defenders of Christian liberties, and they conveyed the prominence of their personal faith very effectively.

The week’s activities ended at Arlington National Cemetery where four students were given the opportunity to lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier on behalf of AACS.

Box Tops for Education

Your support of our Box tops program has been very encouraging! We earn cash for our school every time you shop for groceries and clip Box Tops from hundreds of your favorite products. Each Box Top is worth ten cents to our school—and that adds up fast! We have a contest each month to see which class brings in the most box tops. That class is rewarded with a special treat. This fundraiser has been a great benefit to our school. Please continue to collect them and ask your relatives and neighbors to save them as well.

You can learn more about the program at http://www.boxtops4education.com
