A Church Emphasis HCS is a ministry of Heritage Baptist Church, a fundamental, Bible-believing, local New Testament church. The school was founded in 1973 to serve the educational needs of the growing congregation. The church and school were relocated from Oak Forest, Illinois, to our present facilities in Frankfort in June of 1997. Since its inception, our school has been providing quality Christian education for students of our own church families and from other Christian families holding similar Christian beliefs.
A Spiritual Emphasis We teach the Word of God as the foundation for every aspect of life. By integrating scripture with all activities, we teach students the sacredness of all we do. Students are taught the Biblical norms (dependability, honesty, integrity, service to others, and respect for authority) rather than society's norms (situation ethics, irresponsibility, and self-centeredness) as an integral part of classes. Students are challenged from the Word of God daily in the classroom and weekly in chapel services.
An Academic Emphasis Our second highest priority is to ensure that our graduates are well prepared after graduation, whether for college or for vocational training. Over 80% of our graduates go on to college, most of them to Christian colleges to prepare for a life of service to the Lord. Our students have scored an average of 27 on the ACT college entrance test during the years 2004-2009.
A Ministry Emphasis Training of both the mind and heart uniquely equips our students to serve the Lord. Participation in church services, special school programs, and various outreach ministries allow our students to put knowledge into practical use.
In Partnership with Others Our school is a member of the American Association of Christian Schools, and our students compete yearly on a state-wide level with the other students in this association in the areas of Bible, academics, music, speech and art.
Beautiful Facilities Our school is housed in a beautiful building situated on several acres of land. We have a safe, modern playground and playing fields for volleyball, soccer, and a small basketball area. Our fellowship hall provides an area for our band to practice, as well as space for lunchroom tables and other indoor activities. Each classroom has a generous library of books, and our science room is equipped for experiments and dissections. We have a fully-equipped computer lab where typing and basic computer instruction is given.
