Sacred Music Service Conference and Concert
Saturday, February 11
Sunday, February 12
The Sacred Music Services (SMS) Men's Quartet first came together in 1989, when the SMS Men's Choir was formed for its first recording, I Sing the Mighty Power of God. Since that time the quartet has sung in conferences and churches across the country, and has also made three recordings: Be Thou Exalted, Be Not Discouraged, and Let Us Praise His Name. Members of the group include: Phil Gingery (1st tenor; Music Pastor at Bible Baptist Church in West Chester, PA), Mac Lynch (2nd tenor; Music Director at The Wilds Christian Camp and Conference Center in Brevard, NC), Dr. Tim Fisher (baritone; Music Pastor at Faith Baptist Church in Taylors, SC, founder of Sacred Music Services), and John Skinner (bass; independent business owner in Hudson, NH). These men have been singing together for over 20 years, and bring a warm and vibrant performance to every song they sing. Their accompanist is Beth Lynch, wife of Mac.
Heritage Baptist Church has the rare opportunity of hosting an one-day conference with the members of the SMS quartet. They will address a variety of topics.
Here is a schedule of the day:
1:00 The State of Current Church Music by Tim Fisher
2:00 Creative Ideas for Preludes, Hymn-playing, Offertories and Accompaniments for Soloists by Mac and Beth Lynch
2:00 Developing a Choral Sound by Phil Gingery
3:00 Choral Reading Session. This session will include current music written today. Every paid participant receives a packet of music.
4:15 Sticking to Your Musical Philosophical Guns by Tim Fisher
5:15 Supper provided for all paid participants
A Free Concert will be presented by the Men's Quartet at 7:00 on Saturday Evening. This an unusual event to get all these men together in one location. Don't miss it. Visit their website to see their recording and other musical offerings.
On Sunday Morning at 10:30, the quartet will present a selection of Sacred Music as part of the morning worship service.

Around the Corner, Around the World
Heritage for 2012
In Acts 1:8, the Savior lays out the responsibility for both individual believers and churches. They need to impact their surrounding community while sending out individuals to reach out to the uttermost parts of the earth.
The focus of Heritage Baptist Church in the year 2012 is to endeavor to accomplish both of these tasks in a fashion that is pleasing to the Lord. Join us in this year-long focus and help reach the world with the saving message of Jesus Christ.

Introduction to Habakkuk
Adult Bible Study
Sunday, January 29, 9:30 A.M. This lesson continues our series "Old Testament Survey" and is titled "Introduction to Habakkuk":
"Habakkuk is quite unique in the approach taken by the prophet to understand and communicate God’s message. The poetic qualities of this book raise the level of consciousness of God and His resplendent majesty. The centrality of faith as the basis for receiving and appreciating the plan of God becomes a thrice repeated theme in the New Testament."
You are invited to attend our Sunday School and learn about Habakkuk. |
